We are proud to announce that our Teacher of the Year at Mt. View Elementary is Melissa Foshee. Ms. Foshee taught resource at Mt. View since the school opened 10 years ago and had previously taught at Berry Elementary. She assisted all classroom teachers with teaching strategies and modifications and more specifically worked with students who struggled academically. Ms. Foshee always had a positive attitude and worked diligently at her job. When her students entered her classroom, a genuine smile always appeared on their faces because they knew they were coming into a room where their teacher truly loved them and had great expectations for each of them. She always bragged on the progress her students were making and never gave up on any child. Sadly, Ms. Foshee lost a brave and courageous battle with cancer in the Fall of 2008. We will all miss Melissa, but her spirit lives on not only at Mt. View but in everyone she ever met, worked with, and taught. Everyone who knew her considers it a privilege to have been able to know her as a colleague, friend, and mother.
